On November 16, 2021, the Virginia Board of Pharmacy announced a change to their medical cannabis registration card process. Here is our review of that information:
For new medical cannabis applicants:
- Once the Virginia Board of Pharmacy approves your application, they will send you an approval email
- Take the email (either electronic or printed form) along with a photo ID and your non-expired medical cannabis certification to a medical cannabis dispensary near you
For applicants renewing their medical cannabis registration:
- Complete the renewal process online and pay the renewal fee
- Take your current registration card (even with an expired registration date), photo ID, and non-expired medical cannabis certification to a medical cannabis dispensary near you
- The dispensary will very that you hold a current active registration as a Registered Patient for Medical Cannabis
If you need a physical medical cannabis registration card for a reason other than use at a dispensary:
- Email your request to cbd@dhp.virginia.gov
