A bill was signed on April 11th, 2022 making it easier for Virginia residents to receive their medical cannabis.
Beginning on July 1, 2022, no registration card (medical cannabis card) shall be required for dispensing of cannabis products to a patient in possession of a written certification by a pharmaceutical processor or cannabis dispensing facility.
Patients are still required to present the written certification from a registered practitioner (Virginia Cannabis Cards) and a valid, government-issued ID to buy their medical cannabis from Virginia dispensaries.
Virginia Cannabis Cards is certified by the Virginia Board of Pharmacy to issue the written certification for the use of cannabis products. If a patient would like the registration card, patients can pay the $50 registration fee to receive one.
